EDT Re-brand & Re-build

Company Introduction

Education Development Trust is a large not-for-profit organisation which transforms lives around the globe by improving schools and school systems. Originally founded as CfBT (“Centre for British Teachers”) in 1968 where it aimed to help British Teachers abroad. The organisation has since expanded its operations leading to a complete re-brand in 2015 to EDT – a name which better reflect the organisation’s mission.

Brief

EDT required a new, responsive website to support and re-energise their digital assets following the company re-brand. They required a modular design which would offer additional flexibility and control over the site’s appearance.

Build

Having received the visuals from design partners Spencer Du Bois, 3chillies scheduled for the build to take place over a 6 week period. The project team consisted of two Sitecore Devs, a Front-end Dev, a Tester, and a Project Manager.

Designs were received for approximately 10 predefined page layouts and 30 individual page widgets. These widgets would allow the content editors to create new page layouts on the fly, by dropping the most appropriate widget into resizable bootstrap containers.

We engaged 3chillies to build a full new corporate website as part of a major brand revamp including the change of our company name. 3chillies were enthusiastic, prompt and extremely well organised throughout this process, which resulted in a new, greatly improved website delivered on time and in budget. 3chillies were able to integrate well with other suppliers working on our brand, they are good communicators and readily step in to help resolve issues large and small.

Results

Where most websites are confined to existing predefined page layouts, EDT have an incredible level of control over the flexibility of their design. The use of widgets means that content editors can create new design layouts without the need of technical assistance, ultimately reducing the total cost of ownership.

The responsive design meets Google’s requirement for a mobile friendly experience. The clean, fresh design is easy to navigate and new features such as the use of tags on the publications contribute towards a better user experience.
