3chillies are proud to announce that we have been selected as a supplier under the GCloud framework, which allows public sector organisations to procure directly with us through a national framework.

When cloud computing came along it shook-up the industry and dramatically transformed the way that information systems could be delivered. As a result, the UK government setup a system called GCloud, which would aim to streamline the cloud computing procurement process for public-sector bodies in the United Kingdom.

The G-Cloud consists of:

  • A series of framework agreements with suppliers, from which public sector organisations can buy services without needing to run a full tender or competition procurement process
  • An online store – the "Digital Marketplace" (previously "CloudStore") that allows public sector bodies to search for services that are covered by the G-Cloud frameworks

According to the National Audit Office, 80% of central government IT work was undertaken by 18 large suppliers before the introduction of GCloud. Use of the system has continued to grow since its launch in 2012, with sales figures reportedly hitting over £50M in February 2014, which is now being shared between over 1,200 providers.

3chillies have already provided a number of different services to UK government bodies, but now, as a supplier under the GCloud framework, we can supply these services more efficiently.

"We are delighted with our appointment to the G-Cloud 7 framework.  This is clear demonstration of our commitment to the public sector.  G-Cloud will lower our cost of sales whilst also allowing our Government customers to procure services in a cost-effective, compliant way." Paul Spearman, CEO, 3chillies.
